Thank you TTRC members and guests for joining us this evening. Tonight, we are celebrating a year of great efforts, perseverance, change and most importantly, you!

We are only able to achieve everything above because we work together and make our individual contributions to the club, which ripples to the district, and to RI to then reach all ends of the earth.

Thank you!

Thank you TTRC members and guests for joining us this evening. Tonight, we are celebrating a year of great efforts, perseverance, change and most importantly, you!

So what did we accomplish this year?

SERVICE - Andrew

Goal: 300 Service Hours for the club - completed 267.5 of volunteer hours - when you add it all up, it's like one person working full time for a month and a half on community projects.

Goal: 2 New Service Opportunities - Coldest Night of the Year and Not Just Tourists

No scheduled event needed to be canceled and as a club, we took part in 23 service opportunities. This is a considerable number of projects to participate in with only 20 members.

The active participation by new members which was a great sign of things to come.

FINANCE - Jackson

We did not have a major fundraiser this year, however we were able to raise money for several organizations through different initiatives

  • 2 ribfests - $1,725
  • Rotary Foundation walk - $1,235
  • EndPolio Now on World Polio Day - raised $100
  • Poker Aids walk - goal was $300 - raised $670
  • Goal: Annual Fund $2,000 - we reached $2,694 USD
  • Goal: PolioPlus Fund $500 - we raised $188 USD
  • Terry Fox Run - raised $810
  • Able to send Nick to Chicago on the President’s trip (which we’re hoping to do every year going forward)
  • Raised over $6,422 that went to support several local and international charitable efforts and we can proudly put our name to.

Other events that we participated in or significant acknowledgments we saw:

  • inducted 3 dedicated and active members into the club

  • Two teams participated in the Curling Bonspiel (and one even won prizes)

  • Held our Valentine Olympics social

  • Celebrated 30 years of women in Rotary

  • Had 3 members become Paul Harris Fellows

  • Clothing collection for New Circles

  • Another fun night at The Ex

  • 5 members attended District conference

Thank yous

Thank you Andrew, for organizing all of our 23 service projects, ensuring we had enough volunteers to fulfill our commitment and even bring in new opportunities for us to get involved in our local community.

Thank you Neil, for diligently following up with the club to keep our records up-to-date on RI and Club Runner and for keeping a connection to the club and the board even when you were facing a lot of adversity outside the club.

Thank you Diane, for your calm, yet firm hand when keeping us on time, pairing guests with members for a welcoming experience, and ensuring an orderly flow to our meetings so attendees could attend, knowing we respected the time they gave to come and attend our meetings.

Thank you Zahra, for quickly picking up the reins on learning the ins and outs of Club Runner and website design and making the necessary changes needed to keep our club functioning and to help us make room to explore more of what we can do and share on our website.

Thank you Jackzon, for continuing to be the true constant at our club and keeping us in the black. We value your dedication over the years to ensuring we’re financially sound and always stepping up to take on the challenge so we don’t have a vacancy in a very critical role.

Thank you Nick, for being a sounding board and my right-hand-man with the club and the board. You continuously connected with each board member as kind of a “pulse checker” so that no one person felt burned out or felt that they were alone in their roles and responsibilities. You were always there to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed (sometimes even before you were asked to, you saw the need).

We had a few significant gaps this year that I was thrilled to see our newer members jump on and take the lead on.

Tess, you found a way to get involved with the club knowing you were probably going to be out of Toronto more than you are in it and was able to help get our word out to our followers with the bulletin and fill it with key details and engaging photos, so with that, I’d like to say thank you!

Giri, without a membership Director this year, you saw the gap and brought in numerous guests, engaged with almost every single person who came to meetings and became the Membership lead for prospective members, and so with that, I’d like to say thank you!

CJ, you’re the reason we were able to continue our monthly commitment to FYFB this past year, especially at a time when our numbers dropped considerably, you were the cool head in the kitchen to tell the group what needed to be done and to ensure every experience was a consistent experience for the clients at the food bank, so thank you!

For all our members who we see physically from time to time but continue to have a presence in the club and contribute in their own way, I’d like to say thank you.

I’d like to end off by sharing two things.

First, my list of goals for the year from July 2018, which I think we did a very good job of accomplishing.

  • Have fun

  • Streamline our processes

  • Transparency with information and roles

  • Continue to have engaging speakers

  • Unique fellowship events

  • Having service projects that we want to do and participate in

  • Self reflect on what each of us wants to put into TTRC and what it is we want to take out

Secondly, to leave you with a message from our outgoing RI President, Barry Rassin, who shared this with all of Rotary last July.

“We unite, because we know that we are far stronger together than we could ever be alone.

We take action, because we are not dreamers, but doers.

We work to create lasting change that will endure long after our involvement has ended – across the globe and in our communities.

And perhaps most important of all, we work to create change in ourselves – not just by building a better world around us, but becoming better people ourselves”

We are only able to achieve everything above because we work together and make our individual contributions to the club, which ripples to the district, and to RI to then reach all ends of the earth.

Thank you!
